The Startup Lesson Behind Ollie
In the startup world, “unicorns” used to be the gold standard—fast-growing, cutting corners, and often fleeting. But we’ve always believed in a different kind of success. One that’s built to last. One that’s rooted in endurance, integrity, and a commitment to doing things right.
That’s why we’ve embraced the camel mindset. Like Ollie, we’re built to go the distance. We’re not here for quick wins or fleeting trends. We’re here to create something meaningful, something that honors the past while embracing the future. And yes, we believe in a little bit of magic along the way. Ollie’s Unexpected Origin Story
Every great character has an origin story, and Ollie’s is no exception. When one sister/founder first dreamed up the Camel Unicorn, the other wasn’t so sure. Historically, “camel jockey” has been used as a derogatory term toward Middle Eastern people. But instead of shying away, we decided to reclaim it. To take something that was once used to diminish and turn it into something powerful, iconic, and full of pride.
And so, Ollie was born. His name is a playful nod to our father, Ali, whose name many Americans pronounce “Ah-lee.” It’s a tribute to our heritage, a reminder to embrace where we come from, and a celebration of the resilience and strength that runs through our story.
Ollie’s Mission
Ollie isn’t just here to look cute (though he’s definitely got that covered). He’s here to remind us that wellness can be joyful. That hydration can be delicious. That taking care of yourself can feel like a celebration, not a chore.
